Office and Construction Staff
Terry Laney Executive Director x1103 Terry has been executive director at Our Towns Habitat for Humanity since Feb. 2002, serving as ReStore Manager for 19 months prior to that, and engaged as a volunteer since 1996.
Tammy R. Cox Resource Development Director x1105 Tammy joined OTHFH in September 2009 as the Resource Development Director. She joins the team with over 15 years of experience in both the for-profit and non-profit world. Tammy has a strong background in marketing, events and planning. Originally from Virginia, she moved to the Carolinas most recently from Florida. She currently lives in Cornelius.
Deanna Howard Office Manager x1102 Deanna has been with Our Towns Habitat since 2000, first as a Habitat Homeowner and in 2002 as the Volunteer Coordinator. Her current role with Habitat is Office Manager. She lives in Mooresville with her husband and three children. She received a BS in Accounting from Gardner-Webb University. She is most passionate about helping young people achieve their dreams. She feels that her Habitat work gives her a great opportunity to do this.
Cathy Petriano Volunteer Coordinator x 1108 Cathy joined OTHFH in late October 2009 as the Volunteer Coordinator, however, she has been a Resource Development Volunteer with us since February 2009. Cathy dedicated two days a week, eight hours a day to our team as a volunteer. Originally from New York, she relocated to Cornelius to be near her daughter. In New York, she worked in non-profit for more than eight years.
Jessica Grantham Youth & Community Involvement Coordinator
Syd Howell Construction Support Manager In 2006, Syd joined OTHFH as a full time site supervisor. He also serves as the AmeriCorp, Fleet and Construction Tools Manager. Formerly, he owned Outdoors Etc., a camping and paddle store in Cornelius. When he closed the store in 2005 he filled a vacant AmeriCorp position. Syd in married to Dee Rogers, a registered nurse. Together they have two dogs, Bear and Murphy.
Lareka Kerns Knox Lareka, a 9-year Habitat homeowner, joined Our Towns Habitat for Humanity in May 2007. She worked in Banking for 9 nine years and last held a Sales and Service Manager Position for First Charter Bank of Cornelius. A graduate of Strayer University with a degree in Business, Lareka also holds a Masters in Business Administration/Finance from Strayer University.
Miranda Morris Family Support Coordinator x1101
Rachel Meyers Director of Finance and Land x1118 Rachel worked with Habitat as a volunteer in Family Services for 11 years. In 2004, she became our affiliate's first full-time paid position as Director of Families. Her passion for families and Habitat's need for developable land provide her an opportunity to serve our families by ensuring our affilate has land to build on. In October 2007, she became the Director of Land Management. Then in May 2009 she accepted a new position as Director of Finance and Land. Her responsibilities include: land acquisition and development, managing financial practices, supervising Office manager, Director of Grants and Foundations and Director of Family Services. Rachel graduated from Meredith College with a BA in History. In 1999 she graduated from Pfeiffer University with her MBA. She is a NC Broker with Meyers Leonard Properties, a rental property investment company. Prior to working for Habitat, Rachel worked as a banker/branch manager and taught business classes at a local college. Rachel resides in Mooresville with her husband Rob and two children ages 7 and 9.
Manny Rosado Site Supervisor x1125 Manny has worked in the construction industry (private sector) since 1985. His faith in Christ brought him into the home building ministy with OTHFH
Phil Taylor Director of Construction and Program Support x1125 Phil has been with Our Towns Habitat since 2006, having been a volunteer for three years and Construction Manager for Cabarrus County Habitat prior to joining Our Towns. After spending 32 years in the financial services industry, Phil is compassionate about his second career. He and his wife Cat have been on several Jimmy Carter Work projects around the world and Phil is involved with the Building Blocks program through Whirlpool Corporation. He is a licensed General Contractor and is a member of the Lake Norman Home Builders Association and the Lake Norman Green Builders Council. Phil is active with dog and horse rescue and the Davidson Society of Friends.
Graham Todd Site Supervisor x 1125 Native of Huntersville and former construction AmeriCorps at Cabarrus Habitat affiliate in Concord, Graham has been with Our Towns since 2008.
ReStore Staff
MC Laney Director x1109 M.C. began volunteering in with Our Towns Habitat in 1996 on the construction site and in the ReStore. She joined the staff in 2002. With a degree in Education of the Deaf from Converse College, she attended graduate school at the University of S.C. A Virginia native, she is married with 2 children and 3 grandchildren. M.C. enjoys Global Village trips (11 to Guatemala), working on the construction site, Women Build, traveling, painting, reading, and most of all, spending time with family.
Mary Gibbs Assistant Manager x1000 Married almost 34 years to husband Jon Gibbs Like to do outdoor things – hike fish, canoe “I like knowing that I am helping someone less fortunate than myself.”
Jean Flynn Warehouse Manager x1110 Jean began volunteering at the ReStore in 1996 and came on staff in 2001. Her husband, Mike, is currently serving in Iraq. Her “children” are her four Chihuahuas: Chula, Bruno, Corey and Bandito. She is also on the board for Scotts Creek Recreational Center in Statesville
Jill Laney Head Cashier x1003 Jill received her B.A. in English from Georgia College & State University, Milledgeville, GA. She began volunteering at the ReStore in 2000 and was hired as Head Cashier in September 2007. Previously she worked as restaurant manager and for Allstate Insurance. She lives in Charlotte with her husband Peter, son Alex, and dogs Yukon and Roscoe.
Harry Harriman Head Driver Harry began volunteering in 2002, was hired on at the ReStore 6 months later. He is retired from Flexible Packaging & Printing, having worked in many capacities, from the printing press to plant manager. He has an associate degree in accounting and served in the Army for 8 ½ years. Harry’s claim to fame is that he is the oldest staff member. He and his wife Lynn have 3 children, 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
Cathy Huddle Deconstruct Coordinator Cathy began volunteering for Habitat in 2003 and was hired to work at the ReStore in 2005. She currently is Deconstruct Coordinator. She lives with her husband John and two sons, Ben, who is a student at UNC Pembroke and works part time at the ReStore and Michael, a middle school student.
Turl Bowen Warehouse Associate Turl began volunteering at the ReStore in May 2006 and was hired as a part-time Warehouse Associate in March 2007. He is a retired electrical engineer who worked for Western Electric, AT & T and Lucent before retiring. Turl was in the Air Force for 4 years and has his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from NC State. He and his wife Vivian have three children and five grandchildren.
Ben Huddle Warehouse Associate Ben is the youngest employee on staff. He began volunteering at the ReStore in 2005 and was hired shortly after as a part time employee. He graduated from Z. B. Vance High School in 2007 and is a sophomore at UNC Pembroke, majoring in Business Management.
Jeff Moran Driver/ Warehouse Associate Jeff began working at the ReStore as a Warehouse Associate in June 2006. He previously worked as a carpenter and as an Army military police officer for four years. Jeff and his wife Diane live in Mooresville and Jeff considers himself to be a “grateful recovering being.”
Don Bechtol Warehouse Associate Don began volunteer with Our Towns Habitat in 2005 and was hired as a part-time Warehouse Associate at the ReStore in February 2008. He began volunteering in construction with the Charlotte affiliate in 1995. Before retirement, Don was a project manager and did special reporting for Bank of America. He and his wife Pat have two children and two grandchildren.
Earl Schooley Driver
Robert Walsh Warehouse Associate Bob was manager of RADAR facilities for Andres AFB and Baltimore International Airport before retiring. After retirement, he worked for Matrix Instruments selling and servicing medical equipment. Bob started volunteering at the ReStore in 2003 |
